Peru’s mining exports totaled $57.492 billion between January and August of this year—an increase of 55% compared to the same period in 2025 ($37.081 billion)—the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE) reported today.
The organization noted that the rise in mining exports was primarily driven by an increase in the value of shipments of copper (up by $9.388 billion), gold (up by $7.938 billion), and lead (up by $2.019 billion).
The mining and energy industry association stated that copper exports from January to August 2026 reached $26.513 billion, representing a 54.8% increase over the same period in 2025 ($17.125 billion).
Meanwhile, gold exports reached $21.631 billion between January and August, marking a 58% growth compared to the same period in 2025 ($13.693 billion).
The SNMPE pointed out that, during the first eight months of this year, copper accounted for 46.1% of the value of mining exports, while gold accounted for 37.6%.
Furthermore, it highlighted that mining exports represented 74.3% of Peru’s total exports during the period in question.
August 2026
Furthermore, the SNMPE stated that mining exports in August 2026 totaled 7,858 million dollars—an increase of 52.1% compared to the same month in 2025 (5,168 million dollars).
It also noted that copper exports reached 3,679 million dollars this past August, representing a 56% growth compared to the same month in 2025 (2,358 million dollars).
The business association explained that the rise in copper exports was driven by a 38.1% increase in the metal's price and a 13% increase in export volume compared to August of last year.
Additionally, it pointed out that gold exports amounted to 3,035 million dollars in August 2026, representing a 49.4% increase compared to the same month in 2025 (2,031 million dollars).
“Exports of this precious metal benefited from a 14.1% increase in volume and a 31% rise in its price compared to August 2025,” the SNMPE specified.
