In an exciting development for small businesses leveraging technology, Oracle has unveiled significant enhancements to its Oracle Marketplace at the Oracle AI World event in Las Vegas. These upgrades are aimed at empowering independent software vendors (ISVs) and partners, enabling them to grow their businesses by connecting more effectively with Oracle customers.
Oracle’s improvements include expanded use of Oracle Universal Credits (UCs), new co-selling capabilities, and additional purchasing options, all designed to facilitate smoother transactions for ISVs. This initiative not only broadens the commercial opportunities for partner solutions but also allows customers to leverage existing budgets, thus creating a more flexible buying environment.
Mark Hura, president of Global Field Operations at Oracle, emphasized the importance of these enhancements, stating, “Oracle customers rely on our technology to run their businesses, creating opportunities for ISVs to deliver complementary solutions. These Marketplace enhancements help partners reach those customers, collaborate with Oracle sellers, and simplify purchasing, helping ISVs grow while giving customers more choice and flexibility in how they buy.”
The most notable enhancements provide a set of key benefits aimed at bolstering the growth of small businesses:
- Increased Seller Collaboration: Oracle’s Marketplace Private Offers Co-Sell feature connects eligible ISVs directly with Oracle sellers, allowing them to collaborate on customer opportunities. This partnership not only improves solution positioning but also facilitates introductions to customers, enhancing the efficiency of the sales process.
- Greater Budget Flexibility: With the increase in the portion of eligible UCs that can be applied to Marketplace purchases, small businesses can redirect their existing cloud budgets more easily towards partner solutions. This expansion opens the door to additional sales opportunities for ISVs.
- Varied Purchasing Options: The introduction of Marketplace Private Offers enables ISVs to negotiate terms with customers, while metered billing caters to businesses that prefer usage-based pricing. This flexibility allows for a more tailored purchasing experience that aligns with specific business needs.
- Access to AI and Industry-Specific Solutions: As Oracle expands its Marketplace to include specialized solutions in health, retail, and hospitality, small businesses will have access to an array of AI offerings tailored for different sectors. This provides enhanced options and increased chances for finding suitable solutions that complement existing Oracle technology.
- Broader Market Reach: The expansion of Oracle Marketplace into regions such as India and Japan offers new opportunities for ISVs to connect with customers beyond traditional markets. The introduction of Multi-Party Private Offers in various countries also allows ISVs to work collaboratively with resellers, further extending their market reach.
While these enhancements present a multitude of benefits for small businesses, there are also potential challenges to consider. Implementation of new systems can pose a learning curve, especially for those businesses that are not yet familiar with Oracle’s ecosystem. Furthermore, the need to effectively align with Oracle’s sales processes may require some adjustment for ISVs accustomed to more conventional sales strategies.
Companies like Fortinet and Pipefy have already expressed optimism regarding these developments. “Expanding Fortinet’s presence in Oracle Marketplace gives customers a simpler way to purchase and deploy Fortinet security solutions through the procurement processes they already use with Oracle,” stated Anthony James, executive vice president of marketing at Fortinet. Andre Agra, CFO and EVP of strategic alliances at Pipefy, added, “Oracle Marketplace opens the door to building joint solutions, rather than just executing joint transactions.”
With these advancements, small business owners should take the opportunity to explore the Oracle Marketplace and its offerings. By tapping into the expanded capabilities and support, businesses can enhance their service offerings, improve their operational efficiency, and ultimately drive growth.
As Oracle continues its commitment to a robust partner ecosystem—backed by a $1 billion investment—the landscape for small businesses in tech is evolving rapidly.
