The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has recovered additional components from the wreckage of an ATR 42-500 aircraft involved in an accident at Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The Air Force said specialist divers from the Navy and NSIB were sustaining underwater search and recovery operations at the crash site, with teams working day and night to retrieve relevant materials.
According to a statement posted on the NAF’s official X account, the operation is supported by hydrographic surveys, satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, mud excavation and water pumping to improve access to submerged areas.
The recovered aircraft components are being documented and preserved to support the ongoing investigation into the accident.
The Air Force said the multi-agency teams remained committed to locating and retrieving relevant materials from the site.
The continued recovery effort involves coordination among the Air Force, Navy and aviation accident investigators, with the objective of securing evidence that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
