Police in Hoima have confirmed the arrest of Hoima Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Christopher Aine over allegations that he assaulted Henry Byabazaire in June this year.
According to Albertine South Regional Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza, Byabazaire lodged a complaint alleging that Aine assaulted him on June 9, 2026, in the office of the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (OC CID).
Hakiza said police investigated the complaint and submitted the case file to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice. The file was later returned with guidance to have the suspect record a statement.
He confirmed that Aine appeared before the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer to record his statement but did not disclose whether the deputy RDC would be granted police bond.
Police said the case file against Aine includes allegations of assault and malicious damage to a mobile phone under CRB 317/2026. The file will be resubmitted to the Resident State Attorney for further management.
Police have appealed to the complainant and the general public to remain calm as investigations continue.
