Partners of Manchester United stars reportedly cancelled a planned night out amid the fallout from Lisandro Martinez's explosive interview.
A furious Martinez publicly criticised technical director Jason Wilcox and United’s top executives after defeat to Atletico Madrid for not backing manager Michael Carrick in the summer transfer window.
Martinez looked to clarify his remarks with a statement on Instagram on Wednesday – the squad’s allocated day off following the 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid – before releasing a fresh statement after talks with Wilcox and the board.
The Argentine was also fined over his comments.
According to the Sun, wives and girlfriends of Man United stars decided to cancel a planned evening out on Thursday to keep a 'low profile'.
The partners are believed to have cancelled a booking at the Italian restaurant Cibo in Hale, an eatery popular with Man United's players and managers alike.

Harry Maguire's wife Fern Hawkins, left, was among those expected to attend the dinner at the Italian restaurant Cibo before the cancellation
A floor of the restaurant was claimed to have been booked, but a decision was taken to cancel at the last minute.
The report alleged that the decision was taken after advice was given from the club to keep a low profile as the Red Devils looked to move on from controversy.
Martinez's partner Muri Lopez had reportedly been due to attend, along with Fern Hawkins and Ana Pinho, who are married to Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes respectively.
On Friday, Man United boss Michael Carrick insisted the club has moved on from Martinez's comments.
Carrick believes Martinez 'realised he has made a mistake' and insists the controversy will not distract Man United from turning their season around.
'We all understood the situation and what it meant. Lisandro obviously made his statement, and he acknowledges that it was a mistake from him, and that was it really. It's really not a drama for us as a group. We've genuinely moved on,' Carrick said on Friday.
'From our point of view, the acknowledgement of what's been done has certainly been enough. He's released his statement and he's realised he's made a mistake. I think that's enough for all of us to move on with. We're definitely not looking back at it now.'
Martinez is set to be in the Man United squad for their clash with Leeds on Sunday.
