The Yewa North Local Government investment in healthcare has begun to yield results, following the successful delivery of a baby boy at the newly-constructed Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Omilende-Igbokofi, Ogun State.
The baby, delivered by Mrs Mary Adebayo of Oke-Eyo, marks a milestone for the community, where residents previously travelled long distances to access healthcare services.
The council chairman, Dr Olusola Akinbode, congratulated the Adebayo family and commended the health workers for their professionalism and dedication.
Akinbode, in a statement by the council’s Zonal Information Officer, Lateef Akintunde, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the state government in improving healthcare delivery, particularly in rural communities, as he urged residents to protect and maintain the facility.
The council’s doctor and secretary of the PHC, Dr Taiwo Adebowale, commended the local government for providing a conducive working environment equipped with modern medical facilities.

He encouraged pregnant women, nursing mothers and residents of neighbouring communities to patronise the centre.
Mrs Adebayo expressed appreciation to the local government, noting that the facility would ease the challenges previously faced by expectant mothers and other residents seeking medical attention.
The successful delivery highlights the importance of grassroots investment in healthcare infrastructure in improving access to maternal and child health services, reducing preventable health risks and bringing essential medical care closer to rural communities.
