South Sudan’s Media Authority Managing Director, Ajou Luol, says the Second Global Digital Forum in Moscow has provided valuable lessons on integrating digital technology into governance and addressing the risks of artificial intelligence.
The three-day forum was held in Moscow, Russia, from October 8 to 10, 2026, bringing together government representatives and heads of delegations to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
Speaking to SSBC after a panel discussion on trust in the media in the age of artificial intelligence, Luol said the forum highlighted the need for the South Sudanese government to introduce measures to integrate digital technology into governance.
“And we learned from this forum that there is a need for our government to put some measures that are meant to use the digital aspect in governance,” Luol said.
He said the discussions were important for South Sudan as artificial intelligence continues to influence information, communication and public trust.
“AI has become an issue that’s very important and crucial to the world, and we are part of this world as South Sudan. That’s why we came also to participate on this issue,” he said.
Luol added that the forum helped the delegation understand the need to address challenges associated with artificial intelligence, including hate speech, disinformation and misinformation.
He said the issues require appropriate measures to ensure the responsible use of digital technologies.
Luol described the discussions as important and said South Sudan had gained valuable knowledge from the forum, particularly on digital governance and the management of emerging technologies.
The forum also addressed declining public trust in the media amid the growing influence of artificial intelligence, social media platforms and digital assistants.
