Pangin-Boleng MLA cum Minister Ojing Tasing on Saturday visited the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) drilling site at Ugeng, Riga in Siang district.

During the visit, he undertook a comprehensive assessment of ground realities, reviewed the pace of ongoing works, evaluated operational coordination and ascertained the extent of damage sustained by the site during earlier incidents.
Tasing said the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) is a project of national interest that transcends a conventional infrastructure undertaking.

“It embodies a strategic national imperative, deeply intertwined with India’s long-term water security, energy resilience and national interests,” he said.
He added that the government remains committed to pursuing progress with prudence, upholding the rights and aspirations of the people, and fostering mutual trust, constructive dialogue and collective responsibility as it navigates the complexities of the ambitious project.
