As the temperatures drop and demand for winter breaks increases, Jet2 has today reinforced its No Fuel Surcharges guarantee, giving customers added confidence when booking their Winter 2026/27 flights and holidays.
The consumer champion has repeated its promise that customers will not face a fuel surcharge after booking. Put simply, the price customers book is the price they will pay. The renewed commitment comes as millions of people plan their winter sun, city, Christmas market and ski breaks.
Jet2 was the first UK airline and tour operator to make this commitment earlier in the year, removing the surcharge provision across all flights and holidays even though it had never previously applied one. While winter is the focus of today’s reassurance, the guarantee continues to apply to all flights and holidays across all seasons on sale including Summer 27, Winter 27/28 and Summer 28.
The guarantee applies to all Jet2 flights and holidays booked through any channel whether online, mobile app, contact centre or via an independent travel agent. David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Jet2 said: “Customers work and save hard for their holidays, so they deserve certainty from the moment they book.
"As they plan their getaways this winter and beyond, we are reaffirming our No Fuel Surcharges guarantee and making it clear that the price customers book with Jet2 is the price they will pay, with no fuel surcharge added later. That reassurance applies to all customers booking with Jet2, whatever time of year they choose to travel, making now the perfect time to book that well-deserved holiday.”
However, some operators are adding surcharges, especially in Spain and the Balearics. An operator in Mallorca has recently slapped a 78 euro surcharge on the flight prices due to the increase in fuel prices. The Balearic Islands Travel Agents’ Business Association AVIBA explains that package holidays may be subject to justified price adjustments, whilst airlines cannot add fuel surcharges to tickets that have already been purchased.
Having a holiday booked does not always mean the price is final. Rising fuel costs may affect certain package holidays if the contract allows for this possibility and the legal requirements are met. This is different from the individual purchase of a flight ticket, the price of which cannot subsequently be increased by means of a fuel surcharge. The president of the Balearic Islands Travel Agents’ Business Association (AVIBA), Pedro Fiol, explains that these price adjustments are causing concern amongst those who have already organised their holidays.
