The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the governors of Anambra and Osun states, Chukwuma Soludo and Ademola Adeleke, were among the political figures who attended the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Wednesday.
The event, held at the State Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, brought together President Bola Tinubu, senior government officials, lawmakers, governors and other political leaders ahead of the 2027 general election.
Although Wike, Soludo and Adeleke are not members of the ruling APC, the party recently appointed them to coordinate its presidential campaign activities in their respective areas.
Wike was assigned responsibility for Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, while Soludo and Adeleke were named coordinators for Anambra and Osun states, respectively.
Speaking at the inauguration, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, highlighted the party’s organisational reach, claiming that it had an extensive network of executives across the country.
Yilwatda said the party had more than 261,000 executives operating from the national level down to the ward structure.
“No political party in Nigeria has our structure. We have over 261,000 party executives, from the national to the ward levels,” he said.
The APC chairman also stated that the party had 31 governors, alongside two allied governors from the South-West and South-East who belong to the Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
He referred to the two allied governors as the party’s “wingers”.

Yilwatda also commended President Tinubu’s administration, describing its policies and projects as visible achievements during its first three years in office.

“Never before has a president demonstrated achievements in terms of policies and projects that can be visibly touched, felt, seen and heard like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
President Tinubu attended the inauguration alongside Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, members of the National Assembly, state governors and other political stakeholders.
The presence of Wike, Soludo and Adeleke at the ceremony followed their appointments as campaign coordinators, despite their political affiliations outside the APC.
Their roles are expected to support the ruling party’s campaign organisation in the FCT, Rivers, Anambra and Osun states ahead of the next general election.
