The Clemens Rukatero Vihajo Okamatapati Soccer League is ending this weekend, with all 10 football teams expected to play their final matches at Okamatapati Sports Ground.
Ahead of the weekend encounters, Okamatapati Combined School (CS) leads the popular rural league with 45 points from 17 outings, while second-placed Ekuija Monjama has 40 points from 17 matches.
As it stands, Okamatapati CS is the winner; however, the league authority will pronounce its fate following a complaint that Okamatapati used an ineligible player.
Wilson Nguvauva, the league coordinator, told New Era Sport that everything is in order and that all issues will be ironed out according to the league’s governing laws.
“We are happy that it is coming to an end and winners will be awarded accordingly on the dates to be announced soon,” he said.
The weekend kickoff will be the encounter between relegation-threatened Benoni FC, who will hope to collect maximum points from the log leaders at 15h00.
Tomorrow, Benoni, who had outstanding matches, will return early to face eighth-placed Scorpions FC at 08h00, followed by Amakhosi Boys versus Tololo FC in the second match at 10h00.
Tololo FC is also fighting for survival, sitting in ninth with the same points as Benoni but a better goal difference.
At 12h00, Young Stars will face Ekuija Monjama, while Scorpions will play Okamatapati CS at 14h00 to conclude tomorrow’s league proceedings.
Amakhosi Boys will clash with Ombwa United in the first Sunday fixture at 08h00, followed by Classic Eleven versus Omurari wa Coblenz at 10h00. Ombwa United will then return to face Benoni FC at 12h00.
The youthful Young Stars will conclude their season with a fixture against defending champions Omurari wa Coblenz at 14h00, while the encounter between Classic Eleven and Ombwa United will conclude the Clemens Rukatero Vihajo Okamatapati Soccer League season at 16h00.
Only one team will be relegated from the league, which is viewed as a feeder for the top leagues in the Otjozondjupa region.
