Cockroach Janta Party Leaders Sent to Tihar Jail Over Jantar Mantar Protest

Cockroach Janta Party co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been sent to Tihar Jail after a court remanded them to five days of judicial custody. They were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly entering the Jantar Mantar area in violation of prohibitory orders. The case has intensified the political row over the site’s recent denotification as a designated protest venue. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has backed the leaders, while Rahul Gandhi criticised their jailing. Student groups have marched to reclaim Jantar Mantar as a protest site, the BJP has hit back at Congress, and the matter has reached the Supreme Court.
