Spurs v Coventry betting tips
- Coventry-Draw double chance – 6/4 Sky Bet, BOYLE Sports & Betway
- Thomas & Rudoni 1+ shot each – 1/1 Coral & Ladbrokes
- Kudus anytime assist – 3/1 BetMGM
Tottenham head into this week’s Monday Night Football fixture bottom of the Premier League and desperately needing three points.
One suspects both fans and management will have seen this game looming on the fixture list for a while now, thinking it offers them the chance of respite.
However, that adds its own pressure and Coventry are themselves picking up after a poor start to life back in the top-flight.
The newly-promoted Sky Blues have won their last two games, beating Nottingham Forest in their last away fixture and then crushing Newcastle 4-1 last Monday.
Spurs, who are around 8/15 for victory with most UK betting sites, remain without Pedro Porro, while Savio and Lucas Bergvall are also on the injured list.
In addition, Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended. The good news is that Dejan Kulusevski is back in the matchday squad after more than a year out.
Coventry boss Frank Lampard must decide whether to stick with a back four that delivered against Newcastle or return to his wing-back formation which has been used in previous away matches.
Further forward, Taiwo Awoniyi could replace Sidiki Cherif after his ban ended. Football betting sites have the Sky Blues at a best price of 9/2 for the upset, while they’re still odds-on to go down this term despite an improvement in form of late.
Tottenham vs Coventry prediction 1: Coventry-Draw double chance
Spurs only survived on the final day last season and despite a summer spending spree, results are yet to pick up.
That makes odds of 8/15 for a Spurs win look skinny – it’s hard to trust the winless hosts given they’ve won just three of 22 games on home soil since the start of last season.
Given the sticky situation Tottenham find themselves in, it would be no surprise to see the crowd get anxious and frustrated, particularly if they fall behind, and it looks worth taking on the hosts in some way.
The double-chance market gets Coventry and the draw on side at 8/5. Another option is to back the visitors via the safety net of the draw-no-bet market in which they are 10/3 shots.
Tip: Coventry-Draw double chance – 6/4 Sky Bet, BOYLE Sports & Betway
Tottenham vs Coventry prediction 2: Thomas & Rudoni 1+ shot each
One player who has been worth keeping an eye on in the shot markets is Coventry’s Bobby Thomas.
He’s a big target for them on set-plays and he managed no fewer then five shots against Manchester City earlier this season, before hitting three more in a heavy defeat to Brighton.
Thomas to hit at least one shot here is a best price of 8/11, although you can push that up to even money by putting him in a Bet Builder 1+ shot double with team-mate Jack Rudoni, who has had a shot in every game so far this season.
Tip: Thomas & Rudoni 1+ shot each – 1/1 Coral & Ladbrokes
Tottenham vs Coventry prediction 3: Kudus anytime assist
For those less convinced by Coventry, here’s something from the Spurs side of things.
Mohammed Kudus managed five assists in 19 Premier League games last season before his campaign was halted by injury.
He’s fit again now and has already managed one assist since his return (against Aston Villa as a substitute).
This looks set to be just his second league start since his injury and he should be confident of making inroads against a Coventry defence which, for all the recent improvement, has shipped 11 goals in six games thus far.
A price of 3/1 for an assist is worth considering.
Tip: Kudus anytime assist – 3/1 BetMGM
