By Zoila Palma: Today, Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, the Senior Management Team and staff of the MoECST, join in lamenting the passing of Sebastian Cayetano, a distinguished educator and passionate advocate for Garifuna culture and heritage.
“From 1965 to 2004, Cayetano served as an educator at both the primary and secondary levels, shaping generations of Belizeans. A proud defender of Garifuna identity, language and traditions, he dedicated his life to preserving and promoting the richness of Belize’s cultural heritage,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry says that Cayetano’s contributions to education and cultural preservation have left an indelible mark on Belize. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations to embrace, protect and celebrate our diverse cultural identities.
May he rest in peace.
