Linda Cohn strongly disagrees that Angel Reese is the lone reason behind the 2026 WNBA Finals’ ticket sales.
The 2026 WNBA Finals will be played between Angel Reese’s Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries.
Many believed that the absence of Caitlin Clark will lead to a massive decline in viewership for the series. However, early numbers show that the WNBA is having no trouble in selling tickets for the finals.
Many have already credited Reese for the drive in popularity, but sports analyst Linda Cohn is strictly against this narrative.
Linda Cohn denies Angel Reese ‘alone’ is pushing WNBA Finals ticket sales
Cohn addressed the narrative during a recent episode of her show. She began by pointing out that the Dream haven’t reached the 2026 WNBA Finals due to Reese alone.
“Angel Reese, we all know has become one of the biggest names in the WNBA. She’s helping bring attention to the Atlanta Dream, she’s done it.
“Now, Atlanta has other outstanding players. She hasn’t done this alone,” Cohn began.
“… People are already trying to compare the Angel Reese effect with a Caitlin Clark effect. And my question is, based on what exactly? A few ticket listings,” she added.
Cohn then explained how Clark’s impact on the WNBA has been ‘extraordinary.’ Be it TV ratings, merchandise, or ticket sales, Clark has already done it all.
Reese was then given a brutal reality check by Cohn, stating: “Angel Reese absolutely has her own following and her own impact on the sport. But if we’re going to make comparisons about who’s driving ticket sales, let’s compare actual ticket sales.”
“Let’s compare attendance. Let’s compare consistent demand over an entire season, not just a couple of Finals games. If Atlanta sells 17,000 tickets, that’s terrific. But it doesn’t mean every one of those people bought a ticket solely because of Angel Reese,” Cohn concluded.
Indeed, selling out two games of the WNBA Finals is nowhere close to doing that on a nightly basis during the regular season.
Despite Cohn stating the facts, many fans will still disagree with her assessment of the Reese vs. Clark debate.
