Human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has stated that the votes of Nigerians during any election period do not count.
Speaking in a video shared on X, Farotimi said revolution is the only means to save the country from what he described as dictatorship.
According to him, Nigeria is facing the democratic installation of a dictatorship, rendering current voting system ineffective without systemic change.
To save the country, the activist proposed fundamental restructuring and reimagining of Nigeria, charged the citizens to do what is necessary to change the narrative.
“Your vote does not count, and the judiciary will endorse it unless you and I decide to do something about it.
“The one thing I have never been shy about is to tell you what it will take to save Nigeria, and this is my own belief.
“The only way forward for Nigeria is restructuring. It will take a revolution to save Nigeria. It might come through the ballot, but I’m not convinced it will.
“But if sufficient numbers are persuaded to believe in the vision, not the person’ vision for a new Nigeria placed on the ballot, if you don’t place vision for a new Nigeria on the ballot, you cannot mobilize the people to stand behind their votes, and that is why the distraction has been completely about politics,” he said.
