University of Miami Health System’s UHealth logo now appears on Hurricanes jerseys. The university’s football, women’s soccer and women’s basketball teams wore the patch on their home uniforms the weekend of Oct. 17, according to The Miami Hurricane, the university’s student newspaper.
The green UHealth patch made its debut on the front of Miami’s football jersey Oct. 17, when the Hurricanes played Tallahassee-based Florida State University at Hard Rock Stadium. The women’s volleyball team, which was on the road that weekend, did not wear it.
The terms of the arrangement are unclear. The newspaper reported it is unknown whether the patch is a temporary placeholder or a paid sponsorship. The university did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.
UHealth’s role in Miami athletics goes beyond the jersey. The health system and its Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will present the women’s basketball team’s Pink Game for breast cancer awareness Feb. 4, according to an Oct. 22 Miami athletics release.
UHealth is South Florida’s only university-based health system.
