Spokesperson for the Government of Sindh, Nadir Gabol, today lauded the historic achievement of completing 100 successful robotic surgeries at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College (SMBBMC) in Lyari. Commemorating the landmark celebration, he stated that transforming Lyari into a premier hub for cutting-edge medical technology is a direct realization of the people-centric vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Speaking on the milestone, Nadir Gabol emphasized that the availability of advanced robotic-assisted surgical procedures-completely free of cost in a historically underserved area like Lyari-marks a paradigm shift in public healthcare delivery.
“Today’s celebration of 100 robotic surgeries at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College is a testament to our commitment that quality healthcare is a fundamental right, not a luxury reserved for the privileged,” said Nadir Gabol. “Under the visionary leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Lyari is now home to state-of-the-art medical facilities that rival the finest institutions in the world. We are no longer competing with the local private medical sector or with other provinces in Pakistan. In fact, the Sindh Government has gone international-we are now competing directly with world-class healthcare facilities in developed countries.”
The Spokesperson noted that complex robotic procedures, which ordinarily cost millions of rupees in private hospitals or require patients to travel abroad, are being performed seamlessly for the public in Lyari. He added that minimal-access robotic surgery not only ensures higher precision and lower risk for patients, but also drastically reduces recovery times, allowing working-class citizens to return to their livelihoods faster.
Highlighting the foundational policy behind these medical advancements, Nadir Gabol pointed out that the Sindh Government’s vision for healthcare reform is backed by unprecedented financial prioritization. “Our resolve to revolutionize public health is not mere rhetoric; it is tangibly reflected in our fiscal priorities,” Gabol stated. “By allocating more than 10 percent of the total provincial budget exclusively to the health sector, the Government of Sindh has ensured that our public hospitals are equipped with the latest global technology, modern infrastructure, and highly trained specialists. From robotic surgeries in Lyari to world-leading cardiac, trauma, and transplant networks across the province, Sindh has established a healthcare model that leads the region.”
Nadir Gabol concluded by congratulating the surgeons, medical staff, and administration of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College for their dedication and excellence, reiterating that the Government of Sindh will continue to expand advanced, free-of-cost tertiary healthcare facilities to every corner of the province.
