The Ministry of Internal Affairs has held a budget conference to review financial performance, expenditure projections and planning frameworks ahead of the 2027/28 financial year.
The conference, held at Silver Springs Hotel, was chaired by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu, and brought together heads of departments and budget focal officers to assess budget implementation and discuss priorities for the forthcoming financial year.
Discussions focused on strengthening budget planning, improving resource allocation and aligning departmental priorities with the ministry’s strategic objectives.
Addressing participants, Musanyufu emphasised the importance of reviewing financial performance and improving budget planning to ensure available resources are directed towards the ministry’s key priorities.
He said the conference provided an opportunity for departments to assess budget implementation, identify funding gaps and develop expenditure projections to guide preparations for the 2027/28 financial year.
“The conference provides an opportunity to review budget performance, assess projections and strengthen the frameworks that will guide our planning for the forthcoming financial year,” Musanyufu said.
He also called for better resource allocation and closer alignment between departmental budgets and the ministry’s strategic objectives to improve efficiency and accountability in the use of public funds.
“We must ensure that our budget planning and resource allocation are aligned with the Ministry’s strategic objectives so that available resources support our key priorities,” he said.
The conference is expected to inform the preparation of departmental budgets and strengthen financial planning as the ministry prepares for the 2027/28 financial year.
