Pale timber, terrazzo floors and glass – so much glass – set the tone for a glamorous but relaxed day out, which may start or end with a stroll past dozens of large-scale sculptures in the manicured gardens that surround this winery restaurant. You’ll feel no expense spared as you gaze at panoramic coastal views.
Engaged staff proudly announce produce “from our garden”, perhaps kale blitzed into a slightly bitter sauce to offset the richness of slow-cooked lamb stacked on a buckwheat crumpet. Pickled grapes from the estate’s vines garnish a pool of creamy ajo blanco with crisp-skinned barramundi from the wood oven. Local apples, thinly sliced and caramelised, blanket a velvety frangipane tart drizzled with burnt orange caramel.
Culinary director Josep Espuga also oversees the adjacent fine diner Laura; wine buffs can ask for either venue’s list to access top-notch Victorian and international labels.
Good to know: Three-course menus are offered for weekend lunch; menus at other times are flexible.
Good Food reviews are booked anonymously and paid independently. A restaurant can’t pay for a review or inclusion in the Good Food Guide.
