Ritual in Mexico City's Zócalo to ward off the evil spirits that have haunted the Cowboys since 1996

The Dallas Cowboys are starting to need something like an exorcism to win the NFL title again after 30 long years of drought.

That is what a fan of the team owned by Jerry Jones must have thought, taking advantage of his stay in Mexico City to take part in a curious ritual that has quickly gone viral on social media in recent hours.

A white-haired man wearing sunglasses holds a Cowboys flag while a Mexican woman spreads smoke over the piece of fabric in the Zócalo square, while holding some branches in her hand.

It is what is known as a cleansing, a kind of healing carried out by santeros through a typical ritual aimed at putting an end to a curse.

The Cowboys have not won the NFL championship ring since 1996, when they defeated the Steelers in Super Bowl XXX, played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

The Cowboys' numbers are concerning

"The Cowboys' start to the season has once again been discouraging for fans, with two wins and three losses after the first five games. The latest, against the Buccaneers (16-24) last Thursday, ended up triggering a crisis in Jerry Jones' team.

Currently, the Cowboys are third in the NFC conference. They will face the Green Bay Packers next Sunday.
