Punta Cana.- The Rainieri Cultural Center will be officially inaugurated this Tuesday in Punta Cana, in a ceremony led by President Luis Abinader, marking the launch of a new cultural space dedicated to Dominican history, identity, and heritage.
Located inthe Puntacana Village, across from Punta Cana International Airport. The event will bring together members of the Rainieri family, government officials from the tourism and culture sectors, business leaders, and invited guests.
The center will open to the general public on October 28, offering exhibitions focused on Dominican history and identity, traditions and everyday life, the heritage of La Altagracia, and the evolution of Punta Cana.
Promoted by Frank and Haydée Rainieri, the nonprofit institution seeks to expand Punta Cana’s cultural offerings and provide visitors and residents with greater access to Dominican heritage in a destination traditionally associated with beach tourism.
Alex Martínez Suárez, an architect, academic, and cultural manager who has participated in the project’s development since 2022, has been appointed the center’s first director. He will oversee its cultural and educational programming, partnerships with national and international institutions, and community activities.
The center also aims to support emerging Dominican artists and promote cultural education through initiatives such as visits by public-school students from La Altagracia. Its opening adds a new cultural and educational attraction to Punta Cana while strengthening efforts to preserve and promote Dominican identity and heritage.
