The second installment of Kevin Owens versus CM Punk has now been made official on this week’s WWE SmackDown in Ontario, California. This blood feud may be going on for a couple of months in WWE, but this animosity has stemmed from nearly 20 years of resentment. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis has had about enough of these two taking it into their own hands and has finally put his foot down.
Kevin Owens and CM Punk Rematch Set on WWE SmackDown

CM Punk was riding high after WWE SummerSlam 2026 as he defeated Cody Rhodes in an amazing bout. However, that same night, Kevin Owens would make his anticipated return after 17 months on the shelf. If you’ve followed wrestling long enough, you would know that these two have disliked each other for nearly two decades.
Owens feels like Punk sees himself as “God’s gift to professional wrestling,” while Punk sees K.O. as a man who never lived up to his potential due to his own decision. Punk would beat Owens, who earned a shot at the Undisputed WWE Title, while Owens would inadvertently cost Punk the title against Sami Zayn at SmackDown in Mexico.

Since then, these two have been wanting to tear each other limb from limb. Punk and Owens would cost each other the 2026 Money in the Bank. Weeks after that, they still want to destroy each other like their careers depend on it.
SmackDown GM Nick Aldis has seen enough and decided that enough was enough, and he wants to nip this in the bud. So in two weeks, Punk and Owens can finally put this all to bed, as they go one-on-one in the storied Barclays Center on the Blue Brand. In a sit-down interview prior to the main event of this week’s SmackDown, both men would fire off and have some seething words for each other.
