R&B lovers gathered at Mestil Gardens last Thursday for the Captain Morgan Muck Pit edition of Strictly Soul, an evening of classic hits, smooth mixes and cocktails that brought Kampala’s music enthusiasts together.
From the entrance, revellers were welcomed into a dedicated Muck Pit cocktail zone, where expertly crafted Captain Morgan rum cocktails set the tone for the night.
As guests made their way into the party tent, many initially settled at tables to enjoy their drinks while soaking in the atmosphere. Bamos DJ kicked off the evening with a smooth selection of classic R&B hits before handing over the decks to Akio.
Getting the crowd off their seats took a little encouragement. The energetic host urged revellers to move closer to the stage, while the house lights were dimmed to create a more intimate party atmosphere.
However, it was Crysto Deejay who ultimately got the crowd moving.
Taking control of the decks, he drew revellers to the front with a carefully curated set that blended nostalgic favourites with contemporary R&B hits, creating a musical experience that appealed to different generations.
His set featured Ugandan R&B classics such as Blu 3’s Ndi Beera Nawe and Aziz Azion’s Nkumira Omukwano, alongside international favourites such as Chris Brown’s Yo (Excuse Me Miss).
The seamless transitions between familiar local hits and international chart-toppers turned the evening into a lively sing-along session, with revellers responding enthusiastically to the music.
The performance demonstrated how the right mix of music and crowd engagement can transform a relaxed evening into an energetic party.
With Captain Morgan cocktails flowing, a steady stream of R&B favourites and Crysto Deejay keeping the crowd entertained, the Muck Pit edition of Strictly Soul delivered an evening centred on music, drinks and socialising.
The event further reinforced Strictly Soul’s place on Kampala’s entertainment calendar as a gathering for R&B enthusiasts looking to reconnect with timeless classics while enjoying contemporary sounds.
