Not all heroes wear capes, but Misty Copeland looked poised to save any red carpet when she arrived to the 2026 Golden Heart Awards on Monday evening in a magnificent head-to-toe red set.
Hosted by the New York City non-profit God’s Love We Deliver, which provides medically tailored meals to those suffering from chronic illness, the 20th annual Golden Heart Awards acted not only as a fundraiser for the organization, but also a celebration of artistry, advocacy, and humanitarianism. There, three prizes were awarded to actors Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Andrew Scott, as well as ballet superstar Copeland.

At an evening full of glamour, Copeland stole the show when she arrived in a draping, candy-red fit from Michael Kors (a fitting choice, given that she was honored with the Michael Kors Award for Inspiring Philanthropy, thanks in part to her Be Bold after-school dance initiative).

Copeland made a statement in an all-red look from Michael Kors.
The look consisted of a sleeveless, wool crepe blouse paired with matching wide-leg trousers with creases running down them.
Of course, while an all-red look is attention-grabbing all on its own, the real drama was delivered around back, where Copeland’s top flowed into a cascading cape that formed a long train with a slit running up the middle.

Copeland’s ensemble featured a striking cape around back.
For added oomph, Copeland paired the opera blouse with leather opera gloves, and she made it a true monochromatic moment by adding square-toe heels, a leather belt, and a satin clutch also in shades of red.
During her speech, the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) alum acknowledged those who believed in her when she was younger, and who helped her along the way. She noted that while she was honored to receive the prize, she will work hard to continue to “earn it.”
“It simply should be our duty as human beings to think about the communities we are in and give back,” she told the audience.
