MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. Russia's current account surplus in January-August 2026 rose to $35 bln against $21 bln in the same period of 2025, according to a preliminary estimate by the Central Bank.
The current account surplus in August 2026 amounted to $3.3 bln, compared to a deficit of $0.5 bln last August.
The services deficit increased by $2.3 bln compared to the January-August 2025 figure, totaling $33.7 bln. The increase was mainly due to a rise in services imports driven by growing expenses of Russians during trips abroad, and surging costs of transport services provided by nonresidents. The increase in exports was moderate and was primarily supported by transport services, the regulator added.
The foreign trade surplus in goods reached $91.6 bln, up from $73.3 bln in January-August 2025, driven by an expansion in exports linked to mounting prices on global commodity markets, the Central Bank said.
