Salada Foods adds chai latte to Jamaica Mountain Peak range

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Salada Foods has expanded its Jamaica Mountain Peak product line with the launch of a chai latte, adding a spiced tea-based drink to its range of instant beverages. According to a release from the company, the product was launched in September following more than a year of research and development. General Manager of Salada Foods Tamii Brown said the new offering forms part of the company’s efforts to innovate and introduce products that appeal to Jamaican consumers. “We know Jamaicans love their tea, so within Salada’s promise to innovate, we are bringing chai to market for Jamaicans to try,” said Brown. “Our team has developed a creamy, comforting three-in-one drink that is packed with the warm goodness of real spices," said Brown. The ready-to-drink packet contains black tea and a masala spice blend comprising cardamom, cinnamon, clove and ginger, as well as piperine. It can be consumed hot or cold. Brown said the product also offers a milder caffeine boost than conventional coffee lattes and contains antioxidants from black tea and locally sourced spices. “The team ensures that we utilise piperine, which is an absorption activator and a powerhouse with ginger,” she said. Brown said the chai latte is part of Salada’s broader strategy to diversify its product portfolio, drive innovation and identify new growth opportunities. The product is the seventh innovation from the company in the last 30 months. It joins the Jamaica Mountain Peak range, which includes golden turmeric latte with pumpkin spice, three-in-one coffee mixes in original, cinnameg, caramel and coconut cappuccino flavours, and the sorrel hibiscus drink launched in November 2025. The company is also looking towards international markets, with Brown saying the product’s formulation and packaging were designed to meet export specifications. “We are looking forward to establishing chai latte in the Jamaican market as we build consumer awareness and gather market insights that can inform our international expansion strategy,” she said. However, she noted that entry into overseas markets would depend on country-specific regulatory requirements, distributor readiness and commercial arrangements.
