Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said police have obtained crucial leads to identify those involved in yesterday's (18 October) firing at actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai and expect to arrest them soon.
"Police will track down those involved in the firing targeting actor Tiger Shroff and their handlers," Fadnavis told reporters in Nagpur today.
He said the accused are operating from outside Maharashtra, possibly from abroad.
Police will coordinate with other states and seek assistance from central security agencies to track them down, he added.
"We will also track down their handlers who hide elsewhere and send instructions from there," the chief minister said.
People operating from within Maharashtra in connection with such activities have already been arrested, while those based outside the state and abroad will be pursued through coordination among law enforcement agencies, Fadnavis added.
Unidentified assailants opened fire at Shroff's car in Mumbai's Juhu area yesterday evening.
The actor escaped unhurt, but his driver and another person were injured.
However, photographs published in newspapers today showed Shroff with one arm bandaged and dressings on his chest after he sustained abrasions from glass splinters when his car's windows shattered.
Mumbai Police have registered an attempt-to-murder case against three unidentified people in connection with the shooting. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch, officials said.
Fadnavis said he has spoken to Shroff and that security will be provided to the actor.
"I told him that we would identify and apprehend the accused and that he had no reason to worry," he said.
