The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance and Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) have signed a Tk500 crore loan agreement to provide low-cost financing on easy terms under the Rooftop Solar Programme.
Under the programme, IDCOL and BIFFL will jointly provide Tk1,000 crore in financing sourced from the Finance Division, according to the press release.
Through its demand aggregators, IDCOL will extend financing at a maximum interest rate of 6% to households, businesses, industries and small enterprises interested in adopting solar power.
The initiative supports the government's efforts to increase the share of renewable energy. The government's Renewable Energy Development Strategy Paper 2026–2030 targets the addition of 10,500 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, including 5,500 MW from rooftop solar.
