The final post-mortem report in veteran actor Nana Patekar’s death case has confirmed that he died of natural causes following a massive heart attack, Goa Police confirmed to IANS.
According to doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, a blood clot in the main coronary artery interrupted blood supply to the heart, resulting in cardiac arrest.
At around 2:30 am on October 8, the actor reportedly informed a family friend about his ill health through WhatsApp. He was taken to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, where doctors declared him dead despite approximately 45 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Panaji police had registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Police said the family had been informed of the findings and had not raised any objections. With the report ruling out foul play involving his son, Malhar Patekar, and nephew, Prasad Patekar, the case is expected to be closed soon.
Nana Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village, Pune district, on Thursday, receiving a three-gun salute. Several film industry personalities attended the last rites, while Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid their respects. (IANS)
