Production at the Rugao factory will start as soon as Scania has received a licence, CEO and President Christian Levin says in an interview with Bloomberg in connection with the inauguration of a new test facility in Södertälje.
Levin adds that he expects electric trucks to make up half of the Chinese market for new trucks as early as 2027.
"We have had to speed up those plans. It is always a bit difficult to get licences for things in China, but I have to say, it has gone much faster than we had imagined," says the Scania boss.
Scania and its owner, German company Traton, will present their quarterly figures next week.
