The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) said on the 16th that Chairman James Kim received an honorary doctorate in business administration from Korea Aerospace University on the 15th.
The university said it awarded the degree in recognition of Kim's role as a bridge between the governments and businesses of South Korea and the United States, drawing on his experience running global companies, and of his contributions to expanding trade and investment and to cooperation in advanced industries. The university also credited him with working to attract foreign investment and improve the business environment in Korea by strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries.
In remarks at the ceremony, Kim said, "It is a great honor to receive an honorary doctorate in business administration from Korea Aerospace University, which has led the way in training talent for Korea's aerospace and defense industries."
"The industry-academia cooperation between Korea Aerospace University and Korean Air (003490), and the long-standing partnership between Korean Air and major U.S. companies, demonstrate the value of cooperation in supporting talent development and industrial growth," Kim said. "AMCHAM has also supported students' growth and ambitions through an internship program with Korea Aerospace University and continued scholarship funding." He added, "We will continue to work with the university in aerospace and defense, and broaden opportunities for universities, companies and local communities to grow together."
The ceremony was attended by Korea Aerospace University President Huh Hee-young and other university officials, with Korean Air Executive Vice President Chang Sung-hyun delivering congratulatory remarks.
