…three adult males rescued alive, with one fatality
A building collapse in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State on Friday morning has left one person dead and three others injured.
The incident occurred on Akinola Street, off Ikorodu Road, prompting emergency responders to launch search-and-rescue operations amid concerns that workers could be trapped beneath the rubble.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the cause of the collapse had yet to be established, while rescue teams continued efforts to determine whether anyone remained trapped.
The agency coordinated the operation with other emergency services, including LRU paramedics, the Lagos State Fire Service, LASASA and the Alakara Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to Olatunde Akinsanya, director of operations, LASEMA, while narrating the rescue mission, noted that medical assistance is being provided to the most seriously injured survivor.
“At about 12:45 a.m. this morning, we received an emergency escalation from the Lagos State Command and Control Centre. We deployed the Lagos State emergency response team to carry out an effective and efficient search-and-rescue operation following the collapse of a three-storey building at No. 1, Akinola street, Fadeyi.
“We mobilised all the state government’s emergency response agencies to the scene, working alongside other responders from NEMA, LNSC and the Lagos State Police Command. They were all on the ground to carry out search-and-rescue operations.
“We were able to rescue three adult males alive, although there was one fatality. One of the three survivors sustained very serious injuries. Our paramedics stabilized him and immediately transferred him to a nearby Orthopaedic hospital, where he is receiving appropriate treatment.”
