Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has been taken to hospital after collapsing during a training session involving the club’s reserve team on Friday.
The German club disclosed this in a statement on its official X account, saying Kompany had been watching the second team’s training when he required medical attention.
The club said the coach would undergo a thorough examination in hospital and remain under medical care.
For now, his coaching staff will take charge of training sessions and match operations.
Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, said the club’s priority was Kompany’s health and recovery.
“The health of Vincent Kompany is our utmost priority. At FC Bayern, we will do everything to ensure he recovers quickly,” Eberl said.
He added that Kompany was receiving the necessary medical care and support, while his coaching team would assume his responsibilities.
“All of us at FC Bayern wish Vinnie a speedy recovery,” he said.
