MANHATTAN — Kansas State had a surprise addition to its injury report ahead of this weekend's Sunflower Showdown.
Starting tight end Garrett Oakley is now listed as questionable. He wasn't listed on the initial report released Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Oakley is Kansas State's second-leading receiver with 16 receptions for 196 yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats once thought the tight end position was a strength, but it has taken a hit. Starter Will Anciaux was ruled out for the season ahead of last week's loss to Houston. Oakley and Linkon Cure were the only two tight ends to play last week after coach Collin Klein teased the possibility of Lawson McGraw serving as a third tight end.
Holding a questionable designation doesn't necessarily mean Oakley will sit. Backup quarterback Dillon Duff has been listed as questionable over the last two weeks and dressed for both games, though it's unclear whether he would have been healthy enough to play.
Kansas State will likely be without starting cornerback Kaleb Patterson, who remains listed as doubtful. That could give Donovan McIntosh more snaps.
Kansas State and Kansas play at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The game will air on FS1.
