The Florida Gators are expected to start quarterback Tramell Jones against Arch Manning’s Texas on Saturday. Quarterback Aaron Philo is recovering from a shoulder injury, and Pete Nakos reported that Florida will turn to Jones.
Florida fans were quick to react to the news.
“Let’s go I don’t care who starts just win,” one fan said.
Philo suffered a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter during Florida’s blowout loss to South Carolina.
Jon Sumrall talks about QB troubles
Philo’s status is still questionable, and the final decision will be made on Saturday. Florida head coach Jon Sumrall talked about backup quarterback Tramell Jones.
“Tramell got reps in practice. He’s going to continue to get reps. I’ve said this publicly, I think Tramell can be our starting quarterback here, and we can win football games,” Sumrall told reporters earlier this week.
“Tramell is gonna be ready when his number is called, and he’s gonna continue to have opportunities as we move forward. I love the way he’s handled himself. Tramell’s been great. Philo’s been great,” he added.
