VITALS: The Sun Devils are expected to make a change at quarterback. According to reports, they are going with Mikey Keene under center instead of Cutter Boley. The change was reported during the middle of the week, so the Wildcats have to make adjustments. The Wildcats are dealing with quarterback issues as well. Starter Avery Johnson is listed as questionable on the injury report. He has started the last 32 games during the last three seasons. The Wildcats are coming off a 35-24 victory against the Kansas Jayhawks last week at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. That ended a two-game losing streak in conference play, falling to the Cincinnati Bearcats and Houston Cougars. The Sun Devils were defeated by the defending Big 12 champion Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Wildcats could make a change at running back after Joe Jackson had a huge game in the win against the Jayhawks. Oklahoma State Cowboys transfer Rodney Fields had been the starter. K-State is expected to be once again without tight end Garrett Oakley, who is dealing with an illness. Look to see more opportunities for sophomore Linkon Cure and there's also a chance tackle Oliver Miller gets more reps at the position. A win for K-State would put it back in the conference championship race. The Wildcats have a favorable schedule the remainder of the way because they don't face the Utah Utes, BYU Cougars and Red Raiders. That could make them a dark horse candidate but first they have to get by the Sun Devils.
QUOTABLE:
K-State coach Collin Klein on the Sun Devils: "We got a big challenge this week in Arizona State. It's a very talented group. They got good length. They run on both sides of the ball. A lot of respect, and I know a lot of the guys on that staff and the job they do and have done there the last couple years. We got to play well on the road and put our best foot forward."
QUOTABLE II:
ASU coach Kenny Dillingham on K-State quarterback Avery Johnson: "I think he's playing his best football yet. I think his football and how he's playing, he's taking care of the football. He's getting the ball down the field. He's playing under control. He's moving the pocket. Even the run game stuff. I think he's getting looser runs to be able to be athletic."
