Actor Josh Brolin has opened up about Marvel Studios’ latest villain, Doctor Doom, who will make his debut in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, slated to hit theatres on December 18.
Downey, who last appeared as Tony Stark/Iron Man in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, is returning to the MCU after seven years as Victor Von Doom, the antagonist of the upcoming superhero film.
Brolin was asked whether he would be open to a crossover between his character Thanos and Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Expressing enthusiasm for the possibility, he said, “Having been in that situation with Robert (Downey Jr), in that scenario, I would love a different scenario. I would love it. It would be great. And who wouldn't want to see it?”
He was then asked if he thinks Thanos could take down Doctor Doom, Brolin noted, “Dude, does it matter what I say at this point? Leave the mystery. Embrace the mystery.”
Brolin’s Thanos met his end in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, directed by the Russo brothers.
Marvel Studios recently showcased Downey’s Doctor Doom in a special look at Avengers: Doomsday during the D23 presentation, offering fans a first extended glimpse of the new villain.
The film is expected to bring together heroes from Earth-616, Earth-828 and other universes as they confront Doom, whose threat could have consequences for the multiverse. The story reportedly takes place 14 months after the events of Thunderbolts*.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday features a large ensemble cast, including Downey, Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Atwell, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn.
