In Tavira, the Horta Comunitária de Amendoeira will host the second edition of Festa na Horta on 22 November, bringing together residents of all ages for a day of gardening, food and community activities.
This event will run from 9am to 6pm at the Centre for Agricultural Experimentation of Tavira (CEAT), with free entry.
Organised by the Ecotopia Activa Association as part of Equinócios 2026, a municipal programme promoted by Tavira Council, the festival aims to encourage public involvement in community gardening while raising awareness of sustainable farming, biodiversity and healthy eating.

The initiative also highlights community gardens as places where people can exchange knowledge, learn environmentally friendly growing methods, and strengthen their connection to the local area, inspired by the principles of the Mediterranean Diet.
At 9am, activities will begin with a guided tour of the fruit tree collections at CEAT, followed by workshops for different age groups.
Children can join “Músicas na Horta”, a music workshop led by Ana Pi.
Meanwhile, Ângela Rosa will also lead workshops on solar cooking and biofertiliser.
At 1pm, visitors are invited to join a community picnic as part of the celebrations marking the centenary of Tavira’s Agricultural Station.
For the vegetable growing competition, anyone wishing to enter must register separately by midnight on 21 November and is advised to read the competition rules in advance.
Organisers ask visitors to help protect the shared space throughout the event by staying on communal paths, avoiding cultivated plots, and following the instructions displayed on site.
Festa na Horta will take place at Horta Comunitária da Amendoeira, located at the Centre for Agricultural Experimentation of Tavira, Largo de Santo Amaro.
Admission is free, and the event will run from 9am to 6pm on 22 November.
