Amidst this, batter Sobhana Mostary etched her name in history by becoming the first Bangladeshi female batter to score a century in Australia.
Sobhana ultimately scored 118 runs, hitting 18 fours in an innings spanning 134 balls. Her partner, Nigar Sultana Joty, contributed 74 runs off 114 balls, including seven fours.
Powered by Sobhana’s century and Joty’s half-century, Bangladesh posted a total of 220 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs. This stands as the Tigresses’ highest team score against Australia in ODIs.
On Sunday in Brisbane, after losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh scored 220 for 6 in 50 overs.
In reply, Australia secured a massive nine-wicket victory in just 28.1 overs, driven by Georgia’s explosive century of 131 runs. With this win, the hosts clinched the three-match series with a game to spare.
Previously, Fargana Hoque had scored two centuries for Bangladesh in ODIs, while Nigar Sultana Joty had one to her name. Sobhana became the third Tigress to score an ODI century.
On Sunday in Brisbane, Sobhana reached her century off 124 balls. This marks the second-fastest century by a Bangladeshi batter. the record for the fastest belongs to Nigar Sultana Joty, who scored a century off just 80 balls.
