The Los Angeles Lakers will have one more preseason tune-up before the games start to count. They will host the Denver Nuggets, a team that has been a tough matchup for them over the past few years, at Crypto.com Arena on Friday, and after that, they will have four full days off before their regular-season opener versus the Golden State Warriors.
Los Angeles hasn't been healthy at any point during this preseason. In particular, guard Collin Sexton hasn't played at all, forward Adou Thiero missed Tuesday's game and rookie guard Cameron Carr sat out the last two contests. None of them will play against the Nuggets on Friday, per Jovan Buha.
Sexton is going to be an important member of the team this season thanks to his ability to handle the basketball, create pace, break down defenses, provide instant offense and get others involved. L.A. has had massive problems with turnovers during the exhibition season, and Sexton can help by providing an outlet for Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves when either star is being pressured.
He has career averages of 18.3 points on 47.2% field-goal shooting and 38.9% 3-point shooting, 3.6 assists and 0.8 steals and 2.3 turnovers in 29 minutes a game.
Thiero and Carr are two young players who fans have high hopes for. Carr was magnificent in the Lakers' preseason opener with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and Thiero has occasionally flashed his athleticism on both ends of the floor when he has been available.
