Mercedes-Benz Korea said on the 22nd that it is launching the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, a premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), in South Korea for the first time. Preorders opened the previous day, and customer deliveries will begin in November.
The V-Class, first unveiled in 1996, represents Mercedes-Benz's long heritage in vans. It has established itself as a leading premium minivan in Europe and other global markets. The vehicle can be used for a wide range of purposes, from family and leisure driving to business and VIP shuttle service. Among domestic models, it belongs to the large minivan segment alongside the Kia Carnival and the Hyundai Motor Staria.
The model will be offered in South Korea in a single trim, the V300 d 4MATIC Exclusive. It delivers a maximum output of 237 horsepower and is the only MPV sold in the country fitted with Airmatic suspension, which provides a comfortable ride.
Luxury seats are installed in the second row, and both the first and second rows come with heating and ventilation functions.
Convenience features include a 12.3-inch screen display, a parking package with a 360-degree camera, a Burmester surround sound system, seatback tables and electric belt tensioners for the rear seats, which use an electric motor to pull the seatbelt taut.
The V-Class is also the only model among its domestic competitors with an opening tailgate window. Because the rear window can be opened separately without raising the entire tailgate, it is convenient for loading and unloading smaller items such as bags or shopping.
Mercedes-Benz Korea will provide its airport service to preorder customers without a limit on the number of uses and will extend the basic warranty period by one year.
The vehicle is priced at 124 million won.
