Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government aims to stock about 8,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) with basic necessities and operational facilities by the end of October, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said on Wednesday.
"We will finish this by the end of the month, hopefully the 8,000 can be completed," Hasan said after chairing a limited coordination meeting.
He said the government is speeding up supplies so the cooperatives can gradually serve the public, especially in distributing basic necessities and subsidized goods.
The goods include subsidized fertilizer, sugar, cooking oil, liquefied petroleum gas and rice from the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program of state logistics agency Bulog.
About 28,000 to 29,000 KDKMP still need stocking, with around 8,000 prioritized for near-term operational needs, he said.
Hasan said stocking could be done this week, though he hoped the roughly 8,000 cooperatives would be fully supplied by the end of October.
He acknowledged readiness is uneven, with some cooperatives already equipped and stocked while others are still meeting their needs.
The government is also checking the readiness of transport, including trucks, pickups and motorized pedicabs, to support distribution and cooperative business activities.
Bulog said in a statement on Tuesday that 1,985 KDKMP fall within its service coverage, with 736 having received SPHP rice and 1,249 still being served.
Bulog also recorded SPHP rice purchase orders totaling 624 tons being processed through the cooperative network.
For 107 KDKMP points, orders totaled 53.5 tons, with delivery targeted for completion on October 14.
