Palmeiras vs Vasco Cup Semifinal in São Paulo

GUIDES · SÃO PAULO

Palmeiras host Vasco da Gama in São Paulo on Sunday 1 November in the first leg of a Copa do Brasil semifinal, with a place in a one-match final on the line. Here is how a visitor from the United States can get a ticket, reach the stadium safely and watch from home if the trip does not work out.

Palmeiras vs Vasco is set for Sunday 1 November 2026 at 16:00 Brasília time at Nubank Parque in São Paulo, according to the match table of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The return leg follows a week later, on Sunday 8 November at 17:00, at Vasco’s São Januário ground in Rio de Janeiro.

For US fans, this is one of the few big Brazilian club games left in 2026 that falls on a weekend and is easy to plan around. The kick-off is 2 pm on the US East Coast, and the match is streamed in the United States in English.

What the Match Is and Why It Matters

The Copa do Brasil is the national knockout cup, which brings top-flight clubs together with teams from the lower divisions, and it runs alongside the league season, the Brasileirão. By the semifinal stage only four clubs are left, and each tie is settled over two legs.

Palmeiras, the São Paulo club that plays at Nubank Parque, won the Copa Libertadores in 2020 and 2021. Vasco da Gama, one of the four traditional big clubs of Rio de Janeiro, bring a large travelling support to São Paulo.

The other semifinal pits Grêmio against Atlético Mineiro, with the first leg in Porto Alegre on 1 November at 18:30 and the return in Belo Horizonte on 7 November at 18:00, according to the CBF table. The winners of the two ties meet in a single final rather than the old home-and-away format.

Brazilian outlets, including CNN Brasil citing the Itatiaia network, report that the final is set for Sunday 6 December at the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasília. The kick-off time for that final has not been announced, so treat the Brasília date as reported rather than final until the CBF publishes it.

Palmeiras also have a heavy October in the Copa Libertadores, where they face Fluminense in the semifinals, according to the South American federation CONMEBOL. The first leg is at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on 14 October, the return is at Nubank Parque on 21 October, and the Libertadores final is set for 28 November at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.

That workload matters for anyone choosing between games, because coaches in Brazil often rotate players between competitions. The cup semifinal on 1 November is a knockout tie with a final at stake, so both clubs are expected to treat it as a priority.

Schedule and Kick-Off Times

The first leg kicks off at 16:00 on Sunday 1 November in São Paulo, which does not use daylight saving time. US clocks go back one hour at 2 am that same Sunday, so the match starts at 2 pm Eastern and 11 am Pacific.

The second leg in Rio de Janeiro starts at 17:00 on Sunday 8 November, which is 3 pm Eastern. The tie is decided on the aggregate score of both games, so the result in São Paulo settles only half of it.

Kick-off times in Brazil can be moved at short notice for television or security reasons. Check the CBF match table and the Palmeiras website in the final week before you book anything that cannot be changed.

How to Buy Tickets as a Visitor

Palmeiras sell tickets for home games only through their official site, ingressospalmeiras.com.br, and the club says its office no longer sells paper tickets. As of 13 October the club had not announced the sale for the Vasco semifinal, so there is no confirmed sale date or price yet.

The most recent big home game shows how the process usually works. For the derby against Corinthians on Sunday 11 October, members of the Avanti supporter scheme could buy from Thursday 1 October, and the general public from Saturday 3 October at 10:00.

For that derby, non-members paid between R$190 and R$280 for a full-price seat (about US$38 to US$56), at the Central Bank of Brazil rate of 4.99 reais per dollar on 9 October. Half-price tickets, which are reserved for groups such as students and older people under Brazilian law, cost from R$95 (about US$19) and must be proved online before purchase.

Every buyer needs an account on the ticket site, and Palmeiras says the personal data entered is checked against the Receita Federal, the Brazilian tax authority. That normally means a CPF, the Brazilian taxpayer number, so a visitor without one should sort out access well before the sale opens.

Payment is by debit card, credit card or PIX, the Brazilian instant-payment system, and big games use a virtual queue. Cancellations are allowed within seven days of an online purchase, but never later than 24 hours before kick-off.

Entry to Nubank Parque is by facial recognition, so the face registered on the ticket account must match the person at the gate. Do not buy from resellers outside the official site, because a ticket in someone else’s name will not get you in.

Away fans have their own section behind a protective net, reached through Gate D, according to Palmeiras. Neutral visitors should avoid that section and avoid wearing Vasco colours in the home areas.

Getting to Nubank Parque

Nubank Parque stands on the site of the old Palestra Itália ground in the west of central São Paulo, with its main facade on Rua Palestra Itália. Public transport is the sensible choice on match day, and the Palmeiras-Barra Funda metro and rail station is the nearest major hub.

Plan to arrive well before kick-off, because facial-recognition gates and bag checks slow the queues on a full day. Avoid driving, as streets around the stadium are closed or packed for big games.

Inside the arena, food and drink are paid for only with a prepaid card sold at the stadium tills, with an activation fee of R$7 (about US$1.40). You can top it up with cash or a card and use it again at later games and concerts.

Children under two years old can enter free if they sit on the lap of an adult with a ticket, under a São Paulo state law cited by the club. Only one child per paying adult can use that rule.

Safety and Costs for Visitors

The US State Department rates Brazil at Level 2, “exercise increased caution”, because of crime and kidnapping, in an advisory last updated on 29 May 2025. It warns that violent crime such as armed robbery can happen in cities by day and night, and it lists informal settlements such as favelas at Level 4, do not travel.

Keep your phone out of sight on the street and in crowds, and use registered taxis or ride-hailing apps after the match. The State Department also warns that drinks spiked with sedatives are a known risk in Brazil, so never leave a drink unattended.

US citizens need a Brazilian visa for any trip, and the State Department says it must be approved before departure. Apply early, because you cannot get it on arrival at the airport.

Budget for transport, a meal near the ground and the stadium card on top of the ticket itself. Hotel prices in São Paulo can rise on busy weekends, so book early once the sale date is known.

Palmeiras says it bans discriminatory, political or violent banners and checks all fan material at the gates. Bring a passport or a copy, and leave large bags at your hotel.

How to Watch in the US

OneFootball says it shows every remaining Copa do Brasil match in the United States, all the way to the final, with English commentary. A single match costs US$4.99 and a pass for the rest of the tournament costs US$12.99, according to the streaming service.

OneFootball says the service runs in partnership with MediaPro and the CBF, and that it is blocked in Brazil and several other countries because of local rights deals. If you are travelling, check that the stream works where you are before match day.

No US television channel had announced coverage of this semifinal by 13 October. The Brazil Serie A 2026 title race guide explains the league season that runs alongside the cup.

What Is Not Confirmed Yet

Palmeiras has not yet published ticket prices, sale dates or the sectors open to the public for the Vasco semifinal. The prices in this guide come from the 11 October derby and are a guide only.

It is not confirmed whether a foreign visitor can register on the Palmeiras ticket site with a passport instead of a CPF. The kick-off time and venue of the final are also unconfirmed by the CBF, beyond press reports of 6 December in Brasília.
