The NFL suspended Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Alaric Jackson for two games for throwing a punch at Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb at the end of their game at SoFi Stadium on Monday.
Jackson was caught on camera doing the violent act after the Rams lost to the Bills in overtime, 37-34. Los Angeles will not have the 28-year-old protector against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6 and the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7.
His suspension could not come at a worse time for the Rams, who are groping for form with a 2-3 record. Rams.com’s Stu Jackson reported that coach Sean McVay made an immediate decision amid the latest development.

“In the wake of Alaric Jackson’s suspension, Sean McVay says David Quessenberry will start at LT (left tackle) for the Rams,” wrote Jackson on X.
“Team will also open OL (offensive linebacker) Keagen Trost’s 21-day practice window this week, per McVay.”
Quessenberry, who is in his second year in Los Angeles, came off the bench in five games. Trost, meanwhile, has not yet played. The Rams drafted him in the third round in April.
Jackson has become a key member of the Rams since making the team in 2021 after going undrafted out of Iowa. He helped the Rams win the Super Bowl in 2022. His combustible personality, however, has been a concern.
ESPN’s Sarah Barshop noted that the NFL said Jackson violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1. Barshop explained it applies to “any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.”
Jackson, who was accused of domestic battery in June, is expected to appeal his sanction to reduce it to a one-game ban.
