ADEN — Aden Airways announced the cancellation of its scheduled flight from Dammam to Aden, as well as other flights planned from Jeddah and Dammam on Thursday, citing emergency operational circumstances following an incident at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
In a statement, the airline said one of its aircraft had arrived at the airport shortly before the incident occurred. According to preliminary information, a female passenger sustained minor injuries from shrapnel.
The carrier confirmed that all other passengers and crew members aboard the flight were safe and that no additional injuries had been reported at the time of the statement.
Aden Airways added that its teams are coordinating with airport authorities and relevant agencies to monitor the condition of the injured passenger and ensure she receives the necessary medical care. The aircraft will also undergo a precautionary technical inspection to verify its safety and operational readiness before returning to service.
The airline said it is currently contacting passengers affected by the cancellations to inform them of available travel arrangements and booking options. Aden Airways apologized for any inconvenience caused by the disruption to its flight schedule.
The announcement came after Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was subjected to an attack on Wednesday evening.
The incident resulted in the death of one resident and injuries to eight others, with wounds ranging from minor to critical, according to the authority.
