TVK cadre blow whistles during Modi’s speech, show placards hailing Tamil Nadu CM Vijay as ‘next PM’

A section of the cadre of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) blew whistles, the party’s election symbol, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing an official function at the Kendriya Vidyalaya Ground on the IIT Madras campus in Chennai on Sunday (October 11, 2026).

Seated in the last row, the cadre erupted in cheers and blew whistles whenever Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s name was mentioned. They continued the display even while Mr. Modi was speaking. They blew whistles and held placards and posters featuring Mr. Vijay’s photographs and slogans hailing him as the “Next PM”.

As their actions caused a disturbance, the police asked them to behave. The cadre calmed down briefly, but resumed their activities later.
