KUALA LUMPUR: Nadia Lim wants to break the 56-second barrier after setting her second national record at the National Short Course Swimming Championships on Sunday.
Nadia, from Kurenang Swimming Club, won the women's 100m freestyle in 56.48s at the National Aquatics Centre in Bukit Jalil, bettering her national mark of 56.84 set in November 2025.
Yoong Jia Jia finished second in 58.75, followed by Mishya Khor Yue Lynn in 59.27.
"I'm really, really happy. I wanted to go 55, so sub-56. I didn't end up doing that, but I think it's just because it's the last day and I'm kind of fatigued," said Nadia.
On Saturday, she broke her 200m freestyle national record with 1:59.19, bettering the Beijing World Short Course Championships B qualifying mark of 1:59.65.
Nadia now hopes sharper starts and turns will bring further gains. "In this event, definitely want to go 55s, and possibly 54s," she added.
