Giannis Antetokounmpo has had a mixed start to the season with the Miami Heat.
The Greek superstar would’ve dreamt of big things when he made his high-profile move from the Milwaukee Bucks in July.
However, Miami are now 0-2 from their first two games, with their latest defeat coming against the Detroit Pistons.
Despite that, Antetokounmpo has made Heat history.
Giannis Antetokounmpo sets new Miami Heat record
Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the NBA.
When the Miami Heat managed to snap him up during the off-season, everyone stood up and took notice. It was a massive statement.
That move raised the expectation levels, and to be fair to Antetokounmpo, he has delivered in his first two games for his new team.
In the Miami Heat’s entire history in the NBA, no player had ever managed to score 30+ points in their first two games – Antetokounmpo has just become the first one to do it:
- 35 points vs Minnesota Timberwolves
- 36 points vs Detroit Pistons
Unfortunately for him, the Heat ended up losing both games, thus making him just the second player in the franchise’s history to score 35+ points in back-to-back fixtures and lose both.
The only other player to do so was Dwyane Wade in 2007.
Up next for Antetokounmpo and the Heat is a game against the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Centre. It remains to be seen if they can finally get their first win of the season there.
