A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly storing and transporting 66 kg of firecrackers illegally in the Vijay Vihar area of Rohini, police said on Saturday.
Police personnel on patrol spotted a three-wheeler parked outside a park on the night of October 20. When questioned, the driver failed to give a satisfactory response, police said.
"On checking the vehicle, various types of firecrackers were found inside," a senior police officer said. The driver was identified as Vijender Kumar, a resident of Rampura.
During questioning, police found that the accused had brought the firecrackers for sale without a valid licence. The firecrackers and the three-wheeler were seized.
An FIR was registered on October 21 under Section 9B of the Explosives Act and Section 323 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is under way, police said.
